Whats wrong here?( Fuel pump)

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

The factory regs are 1:1 IIRC. You're going to need an adjustable one to drop the rail pressure as its obviously too high. Strange though, I never had a problem running the Walbro with the factory reg on mine.

Incidentally, priced up the Evo cradle for ya. $35NZD if you still want one.

Atten: Jon (Or anyone else that might know)
When do you need to upgrade or change your OEM Fuel Pressure reg?
I have a 040 going in on monday & was wanting to know if I'd need a new RRFPR? What is best? 1:1, 1:1.7, whats the go?
PS: Sorry to hijack Dane. :)

what will happen when you dont upgrade the fpr when using a big pump is you will run rich at idle...

basically the stock fpr cannot reduce the pressure enough to maintain stock levels at idle.. its because of the small fittings..

check out vfaq and look for the fuel system.. have a read.. it should explain it all there..

To 3zercrowd and Lee, the answer is yes, if you change to an aftermarket fuel pump you are best off also installing an aftermarket rising rate fuel pressure regulator like a Sard, Aeromotive etc (not Malpassi as they suck). Dont get me wrong, its not always a necessity as it depends on how much boost and fuel you require in your application, but the factory FPR will only handle up to a certain point and usually it's not enough for what what we want. If in doubt talk to your tuner... :)
