IM after advice if my standard motor will hold up to a 20G on 18-20psi.

want to keep my motor stock internally and not damage it.
Will my chip and possibly a safc and the rest of the set up run it safely.

At the moment she's pretty stock;
- 3" tbe
- adjustable bov

I have sitting in my room ready to go in;
-evo3 510 injectors
-055 afm
-single board ecu with a chip tuned for the above

I can see myself needing;
-new intercooler piping
-data loggin set up
-evo (or copy) exhaust manifold
- boost contro
-maybe a safc to get my mixtures better.
-intake set up
-battery in the boot
-new clutch
-fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator

Dont really want to go cams (yet) as want it not to chew too much fuel when lazily putting around. or is this a stupid concept lol

I want as close to 400hp AT THE CRANK as i can safely get using this set up and not damage my motor, running 18-20psi. I do understand that the 20g will spool later, just seems alot of people are upgrading from 16g's.
and im inder the understanding that a 20g will offer more flow at these boost levels than a 16G.
These are my resons for optimg for a 20g over a 16g.
Opinions?

yeah dude, no worries- as long as the AFR's are fine and your engine is healthy.

A modified VR4 is the last thing you should expect to get decent fuel economy out of. It comes with the territory. Daily drivers are VERY handy to have, even a CA 4G15 5spd like what I used to have, 500+km from 40L around town for $1000. Paid itself off in no time.

Ive read you posts on a simular issue on this thread, both your set up ran 20 psi eh.

Anything im missing?

My old VR4 saw up to 27psi on a stock motor. Daily it ran 22psi before cams, and 20psi with cams and a GT30R. My last GGSR ran 20psi on a big16g all day, and loved every bit of it.

What I reckon you should do, is try and find someone who will tune your car on the fly, to get the most out of your setup.

yeah thats what i was getting at, my car makes 400hp atw and has cost me some dollars to get there. Maybe he should be aiming more towards 250hp.

a 20g will do it, so will a 16g, just need to sort everything out to get there.

but a 20g will get there easier... :)

Worst than the 320-380km/50L i get now (13-16L/100km). Even with a safc? I've learn to live with that.
Ive read posts of people gettin 400ks a tank with a safc tuned running 16g/20g with 560 injectors ect.
Iwas hopin tuning my safc i would get al least what i get now maybe more.

If its goin to be much worse than what im getting now maybe i need to rethink my whole plan, im a uni student lol

Thats pretty much the setup I am running. And a similar setup i ran in a previous car..

VR4 motors are strong, Not like a 4g93 with its tooth pick rods. :)

Good luck with the setup.

"close" to 400 hp at the crank lol, not the wheels.
:shock:
I like my car in one piece haha
Ill be happy with 350-380, just figure with the bigger turbo i wont need to push the set up so much

Don't see why not, i run aftermarket ecu, but the other guys are a bit more clued up on chopped ecu and safc.
