Do e123 boxes bolt upto vr4s with any issues?

Is there anywhere for the mounts and the like?

I love that idea of running super low revs @ cruise. Esp with all my bloody highway kms.

You can have a good look at mine if u want... just let me know

In my evo the gears are as short as hell, but nice and close, so when u rip another gear you dont drop many revs at all...

I did a 500km round trip on the highway, with only a couple of squirts (passing cars etc) @ 100km/h in a a "stock" evo 2 and averaged 7.4l/100km, which I was bloody stoked with outta the evo 2.

That said I did a trip from geelong to warnambool on the GOR later that week and averaged closer to 20lt/100 :p

Yeah my jspec vr4 used to get about 7.6L/100km on the highway.

I'll have to wait for this logger and hit the road at 2600 rpm and 3000 rpm and see which is better.

They do bolt up, using the single vr4 mount on the drivers side, you'll need to make a custom bracket to mount the gearshift cables (neither vr4 nor evo ones will work), and the big hassle, only 2 bolt holes line up (the top 2) which can cause issues - mine cracked the bellhousing on a launch, though several other people have had no such problems over a much longer period of time. Could've been an isolated incident.

Is it possible to use a GVR4 bellhousing on an EVO box when doing the conversion? This would avoid only having two bolts that line up with the block?

Good Question..it'd have to wouldnt it...

Being a W5M33 Box initially,ud think itd line up.
EVO-00X or VR4Squid Where are you's..?they'l know.

I don't think it's the bellhousing bolts that don't line up. I think it's the gearbox mount bolts that don't line up but i could be wrong?

The bellhousings are interchangeable anyway, i'm sure you could just chop and change.

Think your onto something there....
I think i read something about the engine mount bracket having to be modified..

I haven't tried it, but i'd imagine so.

Entaran: it is the bellhousing bolts. vr4 only has one gearbox mount, not the evo's 3, and that bolts on just fine.

I mustve been thinking evo motor into Gsr lancer...

To swap bell housings, will will need to strip down the gearbox, it doesn't just unbolt :(

Also, changing bell housing will change the preloads on the front diff, so that may need to be re-shimmed.

Gotta change the final drive from 3.9 to 3.545 so it's all coming apart to get at the crown & pinion anyway :)

Front diff will likely be open rather than an LSD, but i'll have a gearbox shop do it for me. Thanks for the heads up. I'm still hunting for a gearbox though.

I am so sick of my inside front wheel lighting up when powering out of a corner, I can't wait to get the lsd in there.

What gearbox are you hunting for?
