GSR? You know we're talking about RVR's here right?

Also, how you can "estimate" how much it is using is totally beyond me!
wait WTF is an RVR?
And i guess maths isn't your strong point - I know how much i put into the tank per km's driven and i know how much the tank holds when full, isn't rocket science..

I gained fuel economy in my vr4 after switching from the fast spooling 14b to somthing that came on around 3.5-3.7k (similar to a 20g), still has spool really quick when you want it and always boost but not spooling just trying to get off the lightly slowly like more responsive turbos.

I think that is half the issue I have. I'm averaging $70 a week on fuel at the moment for around 320km which is killing the wallet considering it's my work car / daily and I work for myself.

If I can get a TD05 at the right price, I'm making the shift I think. Just not sure I can get away with 450cc Injectors.

I'm running 14PSI atm. and why not more than 14? Injectors wont handle it?

I want to get a TD05 BIG20. I have access to a high flowed TD05 Stock manifold just need a turbo really.

Gah I really wish people would stop talking about "high flow" this and that, seen it so much recently, it's just bullshit terminalolgy and no one has even bothered to explain what "high flow" is, when asked. "I gots fully sik high flows turbo that I have no idea what it is but makes the powers" give me a break and fuck off back to the wrx forums where other like minded ass bandits have competitions on who goes ass to mouth first.

Ah shit, that wasn't directed at you Matt, just a pet hate.

I was thinking that if you were going to upgrade you would choose a 20g, I plucked 14psi out of the air as a safe boost to run with the larger turbo.

Psi, or boost doesn't equal flow, 14 psi on the stock turbo , might only be 10psi on the 20g to flow the same amount of air. Meaning at less boost you may need more injectors.

The manifold has been opened up a bit, to allow for more flow, thus it's been high-flowed.

I'd love a TD06 Green But I dont have the money to buy all the other upgrades to go with it.

Mate- sounds like you need a meal mate, mate. You said it, not me!

This is estimated

You don't estimate- you calculate. And you say maths isn't my strong point? Failing isn't, that's for sure.

Back on topic- getting a larger turbo will definitely help with off boost fuel consumption! A 16g will be more than enough for your car matt! Just don't forget to factor costs like lines and gaskets in your budget.

CLuTZ yeah I agree.

Reality is, it's time and money, and I have things I need to worry about for my business and that is of more importance to me.

Once day I'll get there.

To add my 5c - I have a '97 HSGR manual.

Recent change in jobs means a 70km round trip each day - 64km of that is sitting on a freeway.

I am getting 450km/tank easily.

Prior to that I worked just shy of 10km from work, and was only getting 400km/tank. The RVR loves the long steady trips.

I'm currently mucking around with the motor in order to get more k's per tank.

Previous set up was
iridiums with no snorkel to air box
300kms to a tank, city driving running caltex 98.

Current setup
copper plugs with snorkel to air box, but no bellow
300kms to a tank, city driving running caltex 98

Will find out how we do in about a week and a bit...

This is working with a stock motor setup, 13T turbo, and full 3" exhaust, probably half collapsed
Pretty simple to replicate my driving so I can get consistent results.

i get similar fuel consumption to you Astron Boy, just installed a boost gauge on the weekend and i am fairly sure its because its hard to be off boost with the little turbo and the auto causing the excess fuel consumption.

400kms to a tank would be a dream. or even 10k per L lol

next up, before a 3" exhaust is a intake pressure test then o2 sensor.

It's not too bad keeping off boost, I can manage a 0psi or below drive over a 40k trip, and that includes a few hills, as I live in them.

i know what you mean, though even getting 0psi i can sometimes hear the turbo working if i am at low rpm and at fairly light load. just a consequence of a turbo with a low boost threshold i think.

I still think there are a few other issues i want to work through before i blame the little TD04 too much :), like im sure there is a vacumn leak somewhere on my rvr as the idle is still a bit funny.

running tens times better with the new harmonic balancer though!
