Fuel filter issue

I've just changed my fuel filter and now the top banjo bolt is leaking like crazy.
Realised I didn't change the copper washers so I went and got some new ones, slapped em in and......still leaking =(

Does this have to be done up super human tight?
Granted I was using a spanner to do it so not heaps of leveridge or room but I didn't think it would be a good idea to overtighten it

So should I put a socket n extension on it and tighten the heck out of it?

Should be pretty tight man, as there is a decent level of pressure flowing through the area.

tightened the hell out of it....and shes fine...

finally gave it an actual crank over to start it and come to find that a belt has come off!!!!!!

a big loud knocking coming from the passenger side engine bay. instantly thinking the worst, checked the timing belt hadnt snapped then had a look in the wheel arch at the lower pulleys and found (what i think is) the power steering belt hanging onto the floor! i drove the car home last night after a mt donna buang run and there was no noise no issue....i dont understand how this happened?

Check your harmonic balancer. It may have just died.

Hmmm ok....best way to diagnose a dead harmonic balancer? Could it have done any other damage?

It's made up of 2 parts, an inner ring and an outer ring. They are bonded together with rubber which ultimately ends up failing allowing the outer ring to spin on the inner and even walk right off. I'd pull the balancer off and check it. If you can't see anything wrong with it then I would paint a line with liquid paper from the inside to the outside so when it's running you can se if the outer rings moves.
If it lets go in a big way it can chew right through your timing cover and stuff the belt.

haha similar happened to me, i was like wtf have i done lol. Its a relief to find out its just that
