Timing Belt Marks

Help Support 4GTuner:

Ditto my last post....if i was to move the oil pump, even a tooth,I think it would be even further out

I just had a real good look and the oil pump, balancer sprocket and crank sprocket are lined up fine, the dowel pins are at 12 oclock..

what doesnt look right is the cam nothes...
the exhaust cam notch is sitting a liitle higher than the intake

theyre not dead level......does that mean my cams are out?
as im turning the motor over it seems fine,iIf i was out in a bad way would i hear/feel a valve contact the piston..maybe the cams a tooth out..?

im probably giving you guys a brain meltdown here.

thanks heaps for your help. :!:

I'd give it another 10 minutes, then turn it over by hand another 6 crank revolutions and recheck the marks. Make sure you are turning the crank clockwise.

If the oil pump still doesn't line up, will it be better or worse if your rotate it one tooth?

see my last post

p.s i still got the allen key in the tensioner, the only tension on the belt is what ive set on the cam/tension pulley.

that shouldnt matter though right.

take it out, part of the idea or cranking the motor over is to get the auto tensioner to move into position.

i know but i dont see the point in letting the tensioner settle in if the belts out of timing anyway,im only gonna have to re-do the tensioner again

this is what im worried about though

Bingo, you need to rotate the exhaust cam clockwise by one tooth more then rotate the engine by hand again and it all should line up.
