Timing Belt Marks

F*ckn hell....why are these things a bitch..

I set it up,of course tha crank and oil pump sprockets moveds when the belt was off..so i did what i thought was right and turned them back to their marks..witht the little arrows pointing to the respective notches..i then rotated the motor....when i got back to 1 @ T.D.C my little whiteout marks have not lined up and are heading around the motor on the belt...toward the oil pump..theyre getting further away from where they should be...i had the belt still on the cam and the cams locked together and it looked like everything went back on the right spot when i put the belt on.

wtf is it doing? could i have put it on a tooth out on the oil pump?

it looks like when the balnce sprocket and the oil pump sprocket are on their marks the crank is a little behind its mark (hasnt made it)...that dont make sense though, cos the balance sprocket and tthe crank are joined by the balance belt.

what the hell do i do know?

thats why you need to spin the motor 6 times, the oil pump and front balance get 1/3 out each revolution.

spin the motor 6 full times and they should line up. if you have everything set right.

oh yea almost forgot, your running balance shafts too aye?

make sure you get your balance shafts in phase or you'll wind up with some nasty vibrations once the motors running.

When you say spin the motor six times......

do you mean spin the crank six times or get 1 @ T.D.C six times consecutive?

i never removed them..all ive done is taken the main timing belt off the carank and oil pump...

I also tend to pull out all the spark plugs and stick a timber dowel down No. 1 cylinder so I can see when No. 1 is at top dead centre.
